Go Dirty Girl!

Attention ALL LADIES!! The Dirty Girl Mud Run is right around the corner in Calhan, Colorado. This premier ALL female 3.2 mile obstacle course is on September 24th at Rocky Mountain Roosters. There will be 11 fun packed obstacles and plenty of mud, sweat and cheers! The event kicks off at 8am with an air horn start. When you’re finished with the course head down to the Expo Village for a shower,some beer, yummy food and great music.

Cheyenne Mountain Stampede Rumbles In!

Join us September 10 for the first ever Cheyenne Mountain Stampede cross country race at The Norris Penrose Event Center . This race features regional elite high school cross country teams including Cheyenne Mountain High School. The race kicks off at 9:00am with classes running throughout the day and awards at 1:00.

Labor Day Weekend!

Ahhh, summer is coming to an end. For many, this is a bittersweet weekend as it marks the end of 3 months of fun-in-the-sun; but yet draws us closer to a new year.

Summit Catering had one of it’s busiest summers yet! We hosted over 30 on-site events such as: Pikes Peak Supercross, The American Kennel Club, Ride for the Brand Rodeo, Craig Morgan/Joe Nichols Concert, Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, National Mill Dog Rescue, All Breed Rescue, and Ducks Unlimited. We also took our convoy to plenty of off-site events at places like Pikes Peak International Raceway, The Colorado Springs Velodrome and many private residences.

We are looking forward to a few days of rest and relaxation as we prepare for our upcoming Fall and Holiday season events. We want to say “THANKS” for your support and wherever you go this Labor Day, enjoy it!

Assault on the Peak!

Join Summit Catering for The 2nd annual Assault on the Peak. It will take place on August 28th and offer riders a new course of challenges from last year. Sponsored by Red Noland Cadillac, this “epic” event has a total of nearly 8,000 vertical feet of climbing in less than 25 miles. The Assault on the Peak is the only day of the year the Peak highway is open to cyclists and was just chosen as the 2011 Iconic Ride by Bicycle Magazine.

The riders leave at 7am from Memorial Park in Manitou Springs. While they’re climbing the newly paved 24.5 mile uphill trek, you can attend the Peak Region Cyclist Bicycle Festival and watch the Bike Parade on Manitou Ave! Summit Catering will be cooking pasta lunch for the riders when they return. Family and and non-riders are welcome as well. There will be Bristol Beer and big screen tv’s at the park to watch the final stage of the USA Cycling Pro Challenge. Stick around for the award announcements and medals ceremony!

US Grand Prix of Sprinting to take place in Colorado Springs!

Attention all bike lovers and Colorado enthusiasts alike!

Winslow BMW is sponsoring a US Grand Prix of Sprinting at the The 7-Eleven United States Olympic Training Center Velodrome this weekend, August 20th and 21st. Located at the East end of Memorial Park, the Velodrome gates open at 6pm, races start at 7pm. This is sure to be a fast-paced cycling event you don’t want to miss!

The Grand Prix kicks off the USA Pro Cycling Challenge that will be moving into Colorado Springs on August 22nd. The challenge, in it’s inaugural year, is the toughest race on American soil and will challenge the 128 riders with high speeds, breathless altitudes and dangerous terrain here in the Rocky Mountains.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Bike World, read up and we’ll see you at the event! Velo-what?

Cadets take in the Pikes Peak or Bust!

Following tradition, during the Saturday matinee performance of the 71st annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, 1200 “Basics” marched into the stands in their fatigues and yellow caps. As the performance began, Brigadier General Richard Clark, Commander of Cadets, gave the opening speech. As the Rodeo began, Basics headed down to the Summit Catering Feed Lot and get some grub. After hard training at Jack’s Valley, they were ready for R and R and fair food. They enjoyed pizza, pretzels and cheese, pulled pork sandwiches, kettle corn, and alas the turkey leg.

71st Annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Days!

Traditional Rodeo at it’s Colorado Best. For 71 years, the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo has been drawing thousands of enthusiastic folk, of all ages, from all over to the Norris Penrose Event Center for their annual Rodeo days. This event has been an incredible success and gets more impressive year after year. After a stellar kick-off that includes, The Ranch Rodeo and Craig Morgan concert, people will be fired up to continue the party. This event has been supporting local military charities since 1946 and continues to be an advocate for those who serve. Be sure to come out for one of the performances: Patriot Night on Wednesday, Tough Enough to Wear Pink, Thursday, benefiting Penrose Cancer Center, Air Force Friday night and Saturday Matinee and Norad/Northcom Saturday night. The party continues after each performance in the Coors Roadhouse where the Atomic Fireballs will rock your socks off into the wee hours. This year is bound to be epic!!
